There was an incident, but everyone is okay!

Last night, Brent had a work dinner so I asked Carter what he wanted to eat for dinner. He requested Pancakes and I agreed that pancakes sounded pretty good. I went to plug in the griddle and get everything set up when Carter started to throw a fit because he wanted to sit on the countertop and watch me cook. I gave in to his tantrum and allowed it (because this is something that he likes to do often and has never been a problem in the past.). Well as you have probably already figured out, last night it was a problem!

The pancake batter was extra thick last night, which made for very thick pancakes. After I flipped the pancakes I started to press down on them with the spatula to make sure that they were cooked thoroughly, etc. Carter really wanted to join in at this point and so I let him. We were both holding on to the the spatula and pressing down on the pancakes when all of a sudden he started screaming. Immediately I knew what had happened! While his left had was busy working on the pancakes with me, his right hand wondered right into the side of the griddle...ouch!

We immediatley put medicine on it and he calmed down after just a few minutes, but the real relief came about an hour later when dad finally got home. Brent wanted to put some band aids on the burn so I told him about some Spongebob Squarepants band aids that I had bought just a few weeks ago. I have never seen someone so excited about a burn! He hasn't stopped talking about his boo-boo and gets very concerned everytime his band aids happen to come off or loosen up a bit. As a result of his love for these band aids we have already gone to the store and bought more, just in case!

Moral of the story: Never underestimate the power of a Spongebob Squarepants band aid!

I love my Mexico Home

We just got back from our first official vacation with Carter. We spent 8 days in the Riviera Maya which is about an hour south of Cancun. It was not our typical busy vacation, but we got a lot of sun time and a lot of Carter time which is exactly what we wanted.

We stayed at Dreams Puerto Aventuras and our room had a great view of the Ocean and the pool. Besides the pool and the beach, Carter's favorite thing was our deck. I think he would have slept out there if we would have allowed it. Our days consisted of a nice big breakfast followed by 6 hours at the pool and beach which was exhausting, but very nice. The resort was very nice with a few different restuarants so we were able to eat something different every night and Carter even decided that he would try some sushi....and he liked it. But we will see what happens next time we got out to eat Sushi, it could have just been a one time thing!

All in all we had a great time and miss our Mexico home already!
